Course Information
Description Singing advanced tonal music and introduction of modal and post-tonal melodies. Aural study including dictation of advanced rhythm, melody, and harmony.

Learning Outcomes 1. Apply a method of sight singing to more difficult diatonic and non-diatonic melodies, including modes and non-tonal scales. 2. Transcribe more complex rhythms, including contemporary materials. 3. Transcribe increasingly more chromatic melodies. 4. Transcribe and analyze diatonic and chromatic harmonies. 5. Read and reproduce rhythms in various meters, including asymmetrical meters, syncopation, and irregular beat divisions.

Course Policies
Instructor Policies I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades, you must come to my office, in person. Late work will not be accepted.
Attendance Policy Attendance Policy: There are about 15 weeks in every semester; students are expected to attend at least 14 lessons per semester. Final grades will be reduced by 5 percentage points for every lesson missed. More than 3 unexcused absences will result in a failing grade for the course. Three or more late arrivals to class will count as one unexcused absence.

COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition directly to their local health department. Students should also contact their course faculty to report their quarantine status. In addition, this policy requires all students to wear face coverings when directly exposed to COVID 19 in compliance with the criteria included in the policy. Facility Policies No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
